São Paulo, September 10th, 2008 – Fujitsu do Brasil Ltda, a Fujitsu Limited subsidiary, leader providing of solutions for Telecom and IT, will be present in the IDC - Brasil Infrastructure & StorageVision Conference 2008. Fujitsu presents, in partnership with FairCom, a North-American Company, leader in database management technology, the integrated solution for Database-in-memory, main memory database (MMDB). MMDB relies primarily on main memory for data storage computer data storage versus systems with disk storage. Thus MMDB do not have to perform disk I/O to update or query its data, enhancing performance.

The presentation will run on September 23rd, at 9h45, at AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce), located at Rua da Paz, 1431, Chácara Santo Antônio, São Paulo.

The new solution, already available to the Brazilian market, offers benefits and support for Fujitsu customers and partners, by unlocking all the functionality of Database-in-memory for mission critical tasks that require scalability, availability and performance. This solution exploits PRIMEQUEST’s great capacity with the optimized use of software and hardware resources, specific allocations of database infra-structure and server memory. PRIMEQUEST is Fujitsu’s new high-performance open supercomputer for Unix environments.

“This partnership represents an important step in bringing the relationship with strategic partners to a higher level, since it consolidates the customized business solutions development model, and creates an integrated solution to the Brazilian and international market, based in high technology products that increase the availability and performance of mission critical applications from our customers”, said Edson Siqueira, Commercial Director from Fujitsu do Brasil.

Besides the components parameterization, this new solution offers the ability for custom development, allowing developers to further integrate and fine tune the solution to maximize all components. The partnership is specially targeted to the Financial, Telecom and Government marketplaces, due to the relevance of the business solutions based in the processing of high volumes of critical data.

"The advanced technology present in the information processing and storage represented by the product lines PRIMEQUEST and ETERNUS represent the ‘state of the art’ in this segment. The opportunity to work close to highly specialized technical teams who know their product intimately represents a key factor in the relationship with Fujitsu. This close and respectful relationship multiplies value and power to the solution", said Almir Fernandes, FairCom do Brasil’s Director.

Through the line of FairCom’s c-treeACE products and its set of interfaces (including .NET, C/C++, SQL and VCL, among others), the developers as well as the end users with internal development may have the power and flexibility of quickly and safely manipulating and managing all the aspects of storage, retrieval and update mission critical data, with performance gains and availability in their applications. Additional functionality offered by the PRIMEQUEST include: great memory capacity (up to 2 Terabytes), scalability (up to 64 Itanium 2 1.4 GHz cores), Flexible I/O and physical partitioning. Applications that use a relational database as a means of persistence may obtain great performance gains integrating to the c-tree/PRIMEQUEST solution.

"The speed comparisons between FoxPro/CodeBase and SQL databases such as DB2, Sybase, and MS SQL are misleading. The very nature of SQL databases is slow throughput. FairCom has a much faster and very reliable solution. We changed to FairCom because we needed a back end that could handle real world loads reliably, and we needed the flexibility to support different platforms. Since we made the change, our customer support calls are down 75%! "
